Ashtanga Yoga

Ashtanga Yoga Taught in Mysore Style

The traditional method of ashtanga yoga is taught in Mysore style, where students learn individually at their own pace.

About Me

I was taught yoga and meditation as a child to help relieve my anxiety disorder. In 2016, I was introduced to ashtanga yoga by Fiona Stang and have cultivated a daily practice under her guidance.

That same year, I made the first of many trips to Mysore to study with R. Sharath Jois. In 2019, he authorized me to teach. I will continue to travel to Mysore to practice and deepen my understanding of this method.

I grew up in Langley, a suburb outside of Vancouver, British Columbia. I graduated from Emily Carr University of Art & Design in 2012 and have worked as a designer and a product manager for several years. This engagement with corporate culture and the practice teaches me how to find balance in all aspects of my life.

In 2015, I married my husband, Brian Tong, who started practicing ashtanga at the same time as me. Outside the practice, we love the outdoor activities, specifically rock climbing and bike riding. We also love to travel and continuously learn.
